Feature
on Wheathills Antique Restoration Courses

Derbyshire Life
Kedleston Traditional French Polishers
and Country House Heritage Events staged a successful Open
Weekend at Wheathills Farm on Brun Lane, near Derby.
The popularity of the demonstrations
by skilled craftsmen, our Wedding
Keepsake and Memory Boxes and the special guest
exhibits, which included a silversmith, horologist and
Windsor Chair maker, showed how great an interest there
is in traditional skills. With this in mind Wheathills
has organised a series of Antique Restoration Course
Study days in three parts.
Part I is an introduction to antique
furniture covering raw materials, dating and identifying;
Part II gives a basic grounding in conservation and maintenance
with guests invited to bring a small item with damage
to work on; and Part III covers the correct use of materials
and procedures in conservation and restoration.
Courses
will be held throughout the year, so for more information
