Future
Plans

With the first stage over you
clearly see the beginning of an incredible transformation.
With many rooms now complete, guests get a better impression
of how the building would have originally appeared.
With exciting expansion plans ahead, Wheathills has recently
gained complete planning permission to extend the building
to accommodate a purpose built Lecture Theatre, Practical
Workshop Classrooms and an impressive Conservatory for
dining and extending events.

The two extensions are designed to increase the working
space of the Cabinet Making and French Polishing Workshops.
Constructed in the normal way, the outside skin will be
constructed of handmade bricks mixed of three types, an
original Georgian brick; a handmade chaily; and a handmade
Parkhouse, each having slightly different colours and qualities.
The original bricks on the house are all different colours
and sizes, therefore mixing new and old bricks works very
well.
The roof tiles are Stafford blue tiles, of which we hope
to source an adequate quantity of reclaimed tiles between
now and the time they are needed.
Gutters and down pipes will be of cast-iron and made to
the original sizes. All windows will be handmade in our
Workshops to the original sliding sash design with their
distinctive narrow glazing beads. The glass will also be
handmade with that slight distortion of period glass. Doors
will be made to the exact detail of the original Regency
door found in the cellar.
